Rio Maior Portugal

Rio Maior is a Portuguese city belonging to the District of Santarém, in Ribatejo, with about 11 500 inhabitants in its main nucleus and a total of about 22,000 within its municipal area. Since 2002, it has been integrated into the Statistical Region (NUTS II) of Alentejo and the Statistical Sub-Region (NUTS III) of Lezíria do Tejo; until 2002 it was part of the former Lisbon region and Tagus Valley. Before, it belonged to the old province of Ribatejo.
