Valpaços Portugal

Valpaços (41 ° 36'N 7 ° 19'O) is a Portuguese city of the District of Vila Real, North Region and intermunicipal community of Alto Tâmega, with about 4 400 inhabitants. It is the seat of a municipality with 553.06 km² of area and 19,512 inhabitants (2001), subdivided into 31 parishes. The municipality limits to the northwest with Chaves, to the east with Vinhais and Mirandela, to the south with Murça and to the west with Vila Pouca de Aguiar. It originated in 1836 due to the dismemberment of Chaves.
